To D.C. and back

About 5 hours after I wrote that last post, I fractured my finger pretty much in half while playing with the kids at work... and of course the surgeon scheduled my surgery on the same day as Hope for Haiti AND my flight to D.C. for training. Let's just say that one of those 3 things scheduled on Wednesday did not happen. I ended up catching a flight to D.C. on Thursday instead.

Hope for Haiti:
NGCSU raised enough to purchase 85 water filters for Haiti! When I got there (although I was a little out of it because of surgery only 2 hours before) I was proud to see all the people who came out to support the cause! Thanks to all of you who prayed about Hope for Haiti and all of you who came out to support!  You had the chance to save lives in Haiti and you did!

Training:
Training was much needed. The first day was basic stuff and not too intense, but definitely enjoyable and purposeful.  The second day was SO intense that my brain wouldn't shut off until well after my bed time.  We went over everything from budgets and fundraising to what to do in emergency situations and expected living conditions. It was so informative that I'll actually look over my materials a few times before leaving!  Oh, and good news, Rachael and I no longer need $24,000- instead, we need $19,916.  Although it's still a lot, I'm $1400 closer to that goal, thanks to 3 appreciated donors!

Rachael:
I got to spend some good quality time with Rachael and I'm excited about working side by side with her for the next year. We were already thinking about some of the things we'd like to do in Haiti and how to accomplish some of the things God has laid on our hearts.  She and I both feel pressed to serve the women in the community in which we'll be living... in some form or another. We're actually hoping to start a women's ministry there. This will give us more to focus on when we're not travelling with teams or working in the office or the field and allow us to develop relationships with the women in the community while feeding some of their spiritual needs.

Other than that, I'm pressing on towards the goal.....

Total money needed to go to Haiti: $18,516
Prayer Requests:  Fundraising- my team that is going to Haiti in June- Rachael & I- Housing in Haiti- support letters and potential donors
